Social Work Senior Manager
California Department of Mental Health
PO Box 456
Camarillo, California 93001

Dear Mr. Freedon:

Helen Moss, who used to work with you at the California Department of Mental Health, recommended that I contact you regarding an informational interview. I have followed your work at the California Department of Mental Health for the past two years and the work you have done to pass the social work safety act in the state of California.

I am a second-year MSW student at the University of California-Los Angeles, studying mental health, and have been interested in social work since I first took a class in that area as an undergraduate. My area of study is mental health. I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you briefly and discuss your social work practice. Would you be willing to meet with me to discuss your work at the California Department of Health so I might better understand what qualifications and experience I will need as I begin my career?

I will call you in the next few days to see if you are available. If you are unable to meet, is there someone else you would suggest I contact for an informational interview? I would appreciate you sharing that person’s name and contact information with me. Thank you.

Sincerely,

David Brown, BSW
